David Erwin
Candidate for Police Commission
David Erwin brings more than 40 years of leadership in education to his candidacy for Middlebury Police Commissioner. A UConn graduate and lifelong educator, David began as a teacher at Memorial School before serving as a middle school principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent of schools for 25 years across Connecticut. Since retiring in 2018, he has continued to serve the public as a consultant for the State Department of Education, Coordinator for the state’s six Regional Education Service Centers, and adjunct professor of Educational Leadership at Sacred Heart University.
A Middlebury resident since 1978, David has previously served on the Region 15 Board of Education and is proud to again offer his experience to the community. He and his wife raised three sons here, and today they enjoy time with their grandchildren. David’s long career of public service reflects his values of fairness, accountability, and community commitment, qualities he is ready to bring to the Police Commission.
